TCP/IP vs NetBEUI on a home network

Hi,

I noticed that Windows XP does not support NetBEUI anymore. This could present problems for my setup. My current setup is:

Cable modem to a hub
Hub to 3 computers
Each computer has it's own IP through cable company
TCP/IP to the WEB
NetBEUI behind the hub for my home network

Everyone is touting that TCP/IP is the way to go and seem glad that NetBEUI is dead, but...When I hook up my network as only TCP/IP I end up going out through my cable ISP network back into one of my other computers, this is unacceptable. It turns my 10/100 MB NetBEUI into a 2 MB (usually slower) network. Is there something I am missing or setting wrong for the TCP/IP to take that route instead of just going through my hub to the other computers? I also like the security of having file share and printer share turned off on my TCP/IP network but on for my NetBEUI network. I really don't want to have to turn on these shares on the TCP/IP network. Is there some other protocol that is replacing NetBEUI in Windows XP?

Thank you in advance
Randy

Well first off randy, you should get router..and do away with you hub AND 3 ips, unless you just want 3 IPs, dunno why that would be...because the bandwidth usage is the same with 3 IPs as it would be with 1 IP, it all still has to come through your cable modem first.

To answer your question as far as NetBeui and XP..will it IS there, you just have to search for it...

do add protool, say you have your own disked for it...pop in your XP disk, navigate to Valueadd\MSFT\Net\NetBEUI on the disk....and voila..there it is.
