Wierd network problem:
My config: Cablemodem-->DLink DI-604-->Switch>

>Computer1-192.168.0.100
>Computer2-192.168.0.101
>EFI-XeroxPrinter-192.168.0.203

The printer is a static address and won't show on the router. I have assigned the two computers as static addresses in the router.

Problem: It appears that if any "internet-related" window like a web browser or even an IM window is open on at least one of the computers, files won't print--they seem to show up for a second in the EFI print server and are dumped. As soon as the web window is closed, files print fine.

Of course when files won't print it's still possible to ping the printer.

What could be causing this bizzare situation?

Thanks!

I posted the original message above under "Wierd-if browser open-won't print!" It seemed that printing would begin if any window or anything was done. When it didn't print--the file would appear for a second in the Fiery print manager and just dissapear!!!

WELL: Problem solved. This had to do with TCP/IP not being reliable with the Xerox DC-250 copier. Xerox tech advised to set up the printer with LPR protocol instead and this solved this inconsistent printing problem...

The problem never existed with a previous Workcentre 3535 unit.

Go figure...

Tek.

Today seems like a good day to chew through the restraints.
