I was wondering why im receiving like over 100 more packets then i send. im at work could it be a firewall or something like that? and its gradually going up if i watch it.

I kind of agree with above. Most people are interested in downloading. Software updates and normal use can cause the 10:1 or 100:1 or so ratio.

Could also be any number of spyware or other issues.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, are in my top 10

Packets come in many different forms what you are probably seeing is ARP, STP, Brodcast, Multicast and possibly 802.3x frames use ethereal (packet sniffer) to view the incoming frames/packets
