I have a cable modem (with multiple IP's) and a switch. One computer's IP address is x.118.157.x, and one is x.118.156.x. These are dynamic IP's, but they rarely change (one has been the same for half a year). Now, how can I network them, with file AND printer sharing? Currently I'm using NetBEUI, but it doesn't work the best, and it takes almost a minute to send print jobs to the printer on the other computer, while transferring files goes fast.

One computer has Win98 SE (the one with the printer), and one has WinXP Pro SP1.

file and printer sharing in the tcp/ip network is all you need here.

i got a w2k and a w98 pc (cable modem, dynamic ips). i can connect from the w2k to the w98 but not the other way around...

so it does work, at least in one direction :)

Um, isn't that what I said above, that I need file and printer sharing? I'm thinking there's a problem with the different IP subnets, because the mask is only 255.255.255.x.
