I have a Sony Viao TR2 Notebook with XP Home and SP2, and have a Netcomm Wireless Router. A mate has a Toshiba Satelite M30 with XP Pro and SP2. He can connect to my encrypted network.
My mate has a Dlink DSL604 Wireless Router and we both use the same ISP for our ADSL connections.
The problem arises when I try and connect to his network. I can see the network, but when I try and connect or repair the connection I get the message that "TCP/IP is not enabled for this connection. Cannot proceed"
I am running TCP/IP Version 6, and my mate is running version 5.
Any suggestions around this problem?

seanc, what do you mean by "TCP/IP version 5"? Are you talking about IPv4, maybe? What do you mean by "his network"? Do you mean shares on your friend's computer, or something else? What have you done to try to connect to it? In what way is your "network" encrypted? IPsec?
While I'm waiting for your response, I'll suggest you might try using the same version of TCP/IP (whatever you think that means) as your friend and see if that helps.

Humm,,,,,,imagine that uppercrust is telling another person (without any help or suggestions) to go to that same old web site. I hope your getting paid from those guys.

I don't have the answer to your question but I do have some brain storming ideas for your problem. Is it possible that your using a dynamic IP address and DHCP from your router and your mate is using a static IP address, meaning his DHCP is turned off?
Are there any firewall issues that you might want to look at?
You might want to look and make sure your mate is using IPv5 because IPv5 was created for the experimental transmission of voice, video, and distributed simulation. IPv5 is the IP protocol number of the Stream Protocol (ST), it uses the same link-layer framing as IP. Is/was an experimental protocol. If my memory is correct the order goes from IPv4 to IPv6. The reason why the jump from 4 to 6 was because 5 was already taken. 5 was developed to coexist with IPv4 but not to replace it. What I'm getting at is I don't know if 4/5 is compatible with 6. Maybe someone else has some opinions.
