Hello. I am trying to network 2 PC's both running XP Pro. I also have an ADSL connection on on of the PC's which I want to share. The problem is that when I set my IP in the LAN1 (NIC) to 192.168.0.1, these setting alutmatically fo across to the LAN2 (which is the ADSL connection). The ADSL connection needs to be set to "obtain IP automatically". Likewise if I set the LAN2 setting to "Obtain automatically", this setting carries through to the LAN1 connection. The whole point of this Peer-to-peer network was to enable the Internet on both computers. Can someone please help me as to what is going wrong/what I am doing wrong? I have just used the XP Network setup to install the connection.

Regards,
Scott

ok so you cant do 'optain adress automatiically because you dont have a dns server set up (domain name service) which could be a router or a server it self..

so you have to have the ip's manually in

so since your doing it the NIC Way you should have pc 1 (the one the has the adsl connection going to it) and a second Nic card that directly connects to the second Pc

make ur pc1 1st nice card have automatic detect ip cause this is for the one that goes to the internet.. have ur 2nd nic card 192.168.0.1 of pc1 and on pc2 your nic card 192.168.0.2 and then share your internet connection
