Hi,
I am currently running Win2k advanced server acting as a PDC, with three clients running Windows 2000 Pro. I have set up SYSPREP on the server, i have also created images of the client machine's. The problem is, im not sure how to clone the images to the client's machine's, i know i need a third-party software, such as Norton Ghost to clone the images, but i dont know how to actually do this, can anyone give me step, by step, instructions, i would be very greatful. I am currently studying MCSE so i need to put this into practice.
Regards
Mark

yeah, Ghost is what you want. If you haven't got it, you can probably find it on the net or kazaa or something, it's just called ghost.exe and you run it from dos from a bootable floppy.
My question is, if you have already run sysprep and made images of the original, what have you been using? I usually use ghost to do that!
Anyway what I do is:
1. Run sysprep, computer shuts down.
2. Put second hdd in the PC (second ide controller usually, just unplug the cdrom)
3. boot from floppy which had ghost.exe on it, and ghost disk to disk, making VERY sure you source and destination are the right way round! it's a good idea to have the destination hdd with no partition on it because then it won't let you go the wrong way. :)4. your done.
With ghost, there are different ways you can ghost, disk to disk, partition to partition, disk to image (file.gho) etc
if you are on a network and you want to have the image file on the server and ghost the image onto a workstation through the network, you need a bootdisk to boot the workstation that loads network card drivers and maps a drive to where the image is and then run ghost and ghost from image to drive and select accordingly.
By the way, ghost.exe is just a part of nortons ghost. Nortons ghost is a full app that you install and it can do some cool stuff but I usually just use ghost.exe and gdisk.exe.
