It should work. You can usually daisy chain up to three switches then propagation delays will start causing errors. bear in mind that if you have a four port router you already have one switch in the network.

It should work. You can usually daisy chain up to three switches then propagation delays will start causing errors. bear in mind that if you have a four port router you already have one switch in the network.

I'd never heard that before. I mean, it's common knowledge that daisy chaining isn't the best solution and the more you add to the chain, the bigger the load on the switch at the front of it but I've seen more than 3 daisy chained that were all working. That's not to say the first one wasn't running at capacity mind you........LOL

Seems like a correct number to me. Better switches could go deeper. Cheap ones might start to bork about 3 deep.

The author might wish to understand that a common patch cable may work. I'd try it first and check for a X switch. Worse case you'd have to get a crossover cable.

If the switch support MDI/MDIX detection then you can use any cable. Otherwise get the proper cable.
