Hi there,

All pc's in the network (less than 10 pc's)occationally gets a generic svchost.exe error and when you look at the error log it says "Faulting application svchost.exe, version 5.1.2600.2180, faulting module ole32.dll, version 5.1.2600.2726, fault address 0x00032108."

Outlook 2007, windows explorer, WMP, and their CAD software UG running at the time of the error. Once the error occurs, all we can do is try to save our work, the PC then locks up and can only be restarted with a forced crash/shutdown with holding the power button down. Can anyone please help? Thanks!

Number of things...
Are running a domain and using a WSUS server???

Or are you getting all your Microsoft updates from windowsupdate???

I think there were several reasons for the svchost errors...seems like it took the industry too long to figgure out what was going on...

But the resolution seems to be this...

If you are on WSUS you need the server 3.0 from Microsoft...

If you download your patches manually, you need to be certain all computers have Windows Installer 3.1 (KB893803)...

Then make absolutly certain you have ALL the critical Microsoft updates...

Do a registry clean...Crap Cleaner is a good one, it's free...google for it...
Run Crap Cleaner 2-3 times on each computer...

Then download and run this...
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927891

This is a fix that Msoft put out some time ago...

If you google around you will find LOTS of hits on svchost errors...a lot of what you see are the attempts of trying to figgure out what was wrong...some of the cures indicated worked...some worked for a while...
Some were not very good at all...

But what I've indicated above seems to be "final resolution"...

Good luck
