That subnet mask gives you a range of:

172.16.0.1 to 172.16.255.254

There are lots of free subnet calculators online. Here's one: http://www.subnetmask.info/

CIDR = 172.16.0.0/17

Use 172.16.0.0 ---->255.255.255.192 , this gives you addresses
172.16.0.1 -172.16.0.63 for expansion if you need it .
