I am trying to stop a service on a remote machine, I have installed SC.exe but I get the following error when I try and stop a service on a server:
[SC] OpenService FAILED 1060:
The specified service does not exist as an installed service.
the command I gave was:
sc \\printserv stop "Print Spooler"
my desktop is windows 2000 pro
I have tried to stop services on 2 servers, one is windows server 2003 and the other is windows server 2000, both also have the relevant sc.exe installed.
I have also tried running the command against my collegues 2000 desktop and the command works perfectly.
does anyone have any ideas?
Many thanks
Steve

Try psservice.exe, which is a part of the sysinternals collection. It's free.

"How many squirrels had to die to make you look fly?!"

Try mmc and use it on remote system.
I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.
