Subject: Static IP 0.0.0.0? Conflicting adapOS: Tablet PCCPU/Ram: 800PIII/128 |
Comment: I'm running two network adapters in a Tablet PC. The first is an Aircard 300 with a static IP address. The second is a USB Ethernet device which aquires it's IP address through our DHCP server. The problem is that I'm intermittently seeing the IP 0.0.0.0 for the wireless connection even though I have a static IP in place. Is Windows the culprit or does MS have multiple network adapters figured out in XP/Tablet PC? Any suggestions? White papers?

Reply: (edit)"I'm intermittently seeing the IP 0.0.0.0 for the wireless connection even though I have a static IP in place." How are you observing this change? Windows can handle two network adaptors.

Reply: (edit)I right click on My Network Places, select Properties and then click on the CDPD connection. Then I look in the Details section in the lower left part of the window. It shows the current IP address. I realize Tablet PC should handle multiple network adapters but something is failing. Does anyone know where I can look for more information on this type of problem? Thanks, Greg

Reply: (edit)Solution: Disable the "PowerOn Registration" checkbox under the "Advanced Settings" tab in Toolkit and manually click the button to register the connection in Watcher once Windows is fully loaded. It's not pretty but it works every time. Greg
