Hey guys,
I have just set up my small domain, i have been working endlessly for months now to get it all up and running the way i want it with permissions controlling everything.
Only one problem, when the users login to xp,2k their settings get saved in "documents and settings" as User.HOME
I dont want this, i want all the login info and documents to stay on the server in order to save space on all my clients,
my server has 2 250gb in a raid mirror
my clients only have 5-10gb hdd's
Get my point? i want to save as much space as possible on the clients, so how can i set the users settings to stay on the serverI have noticed in the AD settings it says something like: Local home Profile, or wtv
CAN SOME1 PLZ HELP ME OUT???
I'm new to this whole thing and i am working on this because i plan to become a network technician in a few years so im learning
thx in advance

need info? just ask

u need to enable profile redirection withing AD.there is an option within group policy that allows you to do this.first u must create a directory on there server that is shared IE "profiles" assign read and change permissions to the everyone group or domain users group and then assign this drive mapping on the server within group policy.to be honest dude what are doing wont be given that much justice through a few paragraphs here as AD is complex and very deep.

this article may help with both roaming and mandatory profiles.

thx but what about win nt 40 server i am currently in charge of a small domain that uses server 4.0(sp6a) how can i accomplish the same thing with this old server??? thx a lot

u need to install user manager on on one of the servers in your domain.within that u can create and direct profiles to a network share

thanks man thats what i thought about the profiles but what about "home directory"? what is that?
thx a lot
