When I set up the cable modem I was using my laptop. The cable modem will only let that mac address connect to the internet ... even if I unplug it for 20 seconds or so.

My router was connected to the cable modem and I have the mac address of the laptop spoofed on the WAN port.

I will be bringing my server home and hooking it up to the internet there. My router will not forward ports. How can I spoof the mac of the laptop in windows XP?

I plan on using ICS into the router (my parents' computer is connected wirelessly)

Whoa buddy you are kinda all over the map here.

Why do you think you need to forward ports?
Why do you think your router can't forward? Might post the model.
Why do you think you need to spoof at the wan AND pc levels? Doesn't work like that.

You plan to use ICS??? Because your parents pc connects wirelessly? How does that relate?

Post what hardware you have and plan on using so we can suggest the proper route to take.

Clone the laptop's MAC address in the router. That's why your router manufacturer put that feature in!

I am doing that now, but the router won't forward ports so I have to have the server connected directly to the internet.

That's a terrible idea. Buy a router that has port forwarding.

Discussion seems kinda pointless if Miller88 isn't going to tell us the model of the router.

Miller88 if you will grace us with answers to my questions we may be able to suggest a course of action. You have supplied your conclusions and not the facts required.

Well there's something actually wrong with the router itself. Linksys BEFW11S4. It used to forward ports, but now whenever I try to do it, it just asks for the password over and over again. This is only temporary until I get one that works.

It used to forward ports

Then you push in the reset button while booting it from a cold start ie. set it back to factory defaults. Then reconfig again from scratch.

I've done that about 100 times. Reset it with the button, unplugging it for a week, upgrading firmware, reset in the gui
