How to configure a local ip address over the network switch?

i bought a switch for split the internet connection.

I connect the modem to switch and taken a connection from that switch for 2 PC.

Exchange the switch for a router.

In other words you can not do it with a switch. You need a router... unless you want to pay for and get two ip addresses from your isp.

Bet if we knew the model and brand we'd be able to read the owners manual.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

Thanks for your reply.

Switch details,

Switch Company: Quantum
Model No: QHM8208RA
Port : 8 Port Switch

If we get two IP address then we need to pay extra amount to ISP. without replacing switch is there any option to use switch for split an internet connection.

Switches don't split internet connections, routers do. Why pay for a second account?

Don't forget, if you want to network the 2 PCs, you'll have to use remote desktop or something. It won't be a LAN.
