i was wondering if my internet would be any faster if i switch the connection from

wireless router + my computer are connected to the modem then my voip is connected to the router.

would it make any significant difference in speed if i connect my computer to the router instead of the modem?

If you have the computer connected directly to the modem and the modem itself isnt a router as well then you should definitely connect your computer through the router. Forgetting about speed, this could present a security issue if you direclty connect a pc to a modem. Connecting it to a router will help protect you from hacks and viruses.
