Ok, i have a very very, very stubbron Dell Desktop Computer. I cant make an internet connection due to the computer not haveing service pack one. Soo, i try to download it, but it cant because it needs to obtain internet files, (but i cant get on the net with this comp) sooo, then i got a copy of the great all mighty service pack 3, I download it, (well i thought i did) and i couldnt finish due to not haveing atleast SP1 on the computer. So how can i go about this? is there someone who has the internet files handy for sp1? or maybe an alternive option? please any help is better then none.

Do you have any friends with a computer and an internet connection you could get to download it for you and burn it onto CD? If not, have a look at microsoft's website. If I'm not mistaken, you can order an SP on CD from them.

You don't need SP1 in order to install SP3. SP3 contains everything that was in SP1 and SP2. You don't need SP1 in order to get onto the Internet either. How do you think people connected to the Internet before SP1 was released. You inability to connect to the Internet and the inability to install SP3 suggests some other problem the an SP upgrade wont solve. Stuart

Well sp3 wolnt continue installation, ""Setup has detected that the version of the service pack installed on your system is lower than what is necessary to apply this hotfix. At minimum you must have Service Pack 1 Installed."" this is what i get when it almost finishes. And i never really counted on SP3 or SP1 to solve my internet problems, but i was hopeing to figuer out how to get an internet connection. That way i solve 2 problems at once. So for the last live 5 or more days ive only fixed a few of the problems on this computer, mostly everything in Right Click My Computer/Manage. Was disabled so i had to go in and turn everything on. but im still getting Error Messages when i try to turn on sertain things. Talking about dependencies and crap lol. its just on problem leads to another.
