I wound up having to move the modem/router closer to the tv and plug the Ethernet cable directly into the modem/router. In addition, Sony was having some issue, which has since been corrected.

Thank you everyone for the help provided.

Where is your TV in relation to the router - it might be too far away?

You could consider using PowerLine adapters to the TV, which is like an Ethernet cable except the signal goes through your house electrical wiring instead. They work well and I've found the cheap ones do very well. This sort of thing:

My router is in the bedroom which is not too far from where the tv is in the living room. However, the past few days, I have been getting four or five bars and have been able to connect. However, I have to do the entire network configuration again, most times. I have called my Internet provider, and they cannot figure out what is wrong.

Are you by chance using a Comcast cable box/wireless router?

I am using a combined Router/Modem supplied by Time Warner. Would this work?
