I made a post on some other forums (using their format), so I'll just paste it here:
o What doesn't work
Certain webpages (I'd estimate about 50% of the ones I try to open) don't open (They give some sort of network connection error).
o What does works
The other 50% of webpages.
o What you've tried
Restarting my computer works every once in a while. However, it can require up to three restarts to get it to work.
o Whether its dialup, cable, dsl,...
Cable.
o Make and model of your modemI cannot check at the moment, but I do not think this is the problem seeing as my laptop is the lone device out of about 8 that does not work.
o Whether you have a router (If you do then include the what make & model)
Wireless G Linksys router, I believe the model is WRTG40 (I will check in a bit to confirm).
o Do you have multiple PCs networked
Yes. As mentioned above, I have four PCs on the network, three of which are wirelessly connected (one of which, this one, does not work).
o Is it wireless or not (If wireless include the make & model of the wireless adapter)
Built-in Wifi on two laptops and a network card on the other desktop.
o Are you using Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)
I'm not sure what this is.
* The OS(s) you are using
Just realized this might have something to do with it...
Main desktop - Windows Vista Home Premium (no SP)
Other desktop - Windows XP Media Center Home edition (newest SP, SP3?)
Working laptop - Windows XP Home Edition (newest SP, SP3?)
Faulty laptop - Windows Vista Home Premium (SP1)* What do you have for an IP address?
192.xxx.x.xxx (The IPv4 Address right?)
* What is your default gateway?
192.xxx.x.x
* Can you ping your default gateway?
Yes. (NOTE: These tests were done when the computer is working fine)
By the way, as you can probably tell, I am in no way tech savvy, so go easy with the technical mumbo-jumbo
