Hi I have a SMC700ABR router that works very well until I let it sit for a while (about an hour) without using it. If I want to go on the Internet or check my mail, after I haven't been on the Internet for a while, it will not work.
If I unplug the cable from my DSL modem on the back of the router and plug it back in again, it will work again. But, again if you leave it unused for while, it won't work the next time you try it and I have to always unplug the cord and plug it back in again.
Does anybody know why this thing might be doing this? ......and how do you fix it?

Are you talking about the power or data cord? is there any settings on your router for timouts. Does your ISP cut you off after a specified period. if it's not your ISP or a setting it may be a faulty router or is it getting to hot?
