Slow page load w/ Netgear g router?

Hi,
I just picked up a Netgear WGR614. After setting it up and configuring it I am noticing a slight delay in page loads when i'm surfing the net, around a second.
I had a linksys before that was loading pages almost instantly but it had some other issues so that's why i bought the netgear.
I'm happy w/ the device but it's giving me this delay, it's annoying and i'm wondering what i can do to reduce if not remove the delay.
