I have been having this problem for a while now. i have a local network that is connected to the internet through a firewall and a router i also have a backbone that is a cisco cataliste 4507. i have few DNS server (proxy, mail, DNS, Samba, cups...) anyhow my probleme is that the performance of my whole network goes down everytime that the connection to the internet get's cut off. and not everyconnection because i have two line to the internet one i am using for the mail and VPNs and the other for everything else (navigation pings ...) so if the navigation one is cut off that's when i get the problem. the comunication between the clients and the server becomes slow. the authentification time as well. everything take longuer and my users get frastrated.
