Can anyone help?
I am running win98 on a desktop and am using it as the client for a lan network. I have a 10baseT network hub and netgear network card in the desktop. I seem to be having VERY SLOW (about 1 mega byte per minute transfer rate) network speeds on the lan when I connect my laptop with WinXP as the client. Can anyone give me any advice???? Rgds.

Try reinstalling/updating the drivers for you network interface. Exactly how many hubs do you have on this network? More than 4 will give you some serious problems. Another thing you may want to try is a LAN Analyzer. Hope this helps.
you can type netstat -e at a command prompt for ethernet statistics on the slow computer if you have more than 1 or 2 errors or discards, you may have a network congestion problem. Also, if your cable is too long or running along flourescent lights or other sources of emi, you could have a high error rate.
Also, if your cable isn't at least cat 3 for 10Mbps, you could have problems.
