Unbeleivebly slow data xfer TO PC1. Picture this: 3 PCS; PC1 PC2 PC3. Xfer over 100M UTP network via switch as expected from PC1->PC2 or PC3, PC2->PC3 and versa vica, PC3->PC2. BUT, when I try to go Any PC ->PC1, slower than serial! So, I checks the cables with a cable tester, no problem, Ichange the ports around on the Sw, no change, I even replace the network card in PC1 ('cause obviously by now the Rx is faulty!) But no. No change.
I think, MUST be software setting, double check everything, ensure MTU etc are OK, they are. PC1 receive is still woefully slow.ANY ideas would be appreciated.
To Recap: Hardware IS OK, checked with proper tester, even changed out. No changes. Software settings SEEM OK. Even replaced the cables just in case the tester wasn't working (but it is, I checked that against a known good one). Win98se on PC1, PC2, XP on PC3. PC1 is also the ICS server but it worked fine until one day, zap, slow Rx. Can Tx OK to PC2, PC3 at full 100M. PC2 to PC3 OK at 100M both ways. JUST PC1 Rx!!! (and the hardware's OK!!)
Bugga.

Hmm.. fixed.. I used System Mechanic at one stage to clear mucos crappo from the system and must have inadvertently clicked everything, including "Maximise Internet Connection". So I unclicked it and "return to previous state" and bingo - problem of one way slowness fixed!! Yet when I checked all the settings manually, nothing appeared amiss. Even checked registry settings - nothing wrong. So, I learn the hard way - don't even try to use an optimiser.
Thanks if you read this.
