Slow LAN with BT Home hub 2.0 and powerline

Specs: Macintosh
I am having speed problems with my LAN

I used to have my MacBook Pro connected directly to my WD TV Live. I have recently changed this to avoid trailing wires across the lounge so now it is as follows:

MacBook Pro -> Home Hub 2.0 -> Comtrend Powerline Adaptor -> Comtrend Powerline Adaptor -> Ethernet switch -> WD TV Live

All connections are wired.

Apparently all components should be able to run at 100mbps but I am seeing a file transfer speed of 6.3 mbps.

Any thoughts?

It is almost certainly the power-line adapter that is slowing you down. The advertised speed in any network device is only ever the theoretical maximum under ideal conditions that are rarely seen outside a laboratory.

Power line adapters hardly ever achieve their claimed maximum and ore nearly always a lot less.
