Hi I am running Xp pro with a 2Mb line and another machine networked to it. The problem is that my main computer which is connected directly to the 2Mb line only manages 60ks downloads, where as the computer on my network manages 256ks downloads via my main computer. Has anyone got any ideas. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a config issue. There a number of tweaks that can be used to increase speed. Too cumbersome to list in detail, but their is a really good website that gives you the details, recommendations, and even line test, on performance improvements and includes a forum like this one to post individual questions. Go to www.dslreports.com. The section you would most likely want first is under Our Tools. You can do a line test and it will report back to you what it finds may be your promblem. D

Thanks for the help. That site is very very handy , Id recommend that everyone with DSL has a look at it. I actually ended up formatting the machine and reinstalling it. It seemed fine after that. I guess there was some config file left over from when the machine was 512 dsl.
