I have succesfully hooked up my network using a xp and win98 Machine using 10/100 cards and a small hub/switch. Iam using clients for Microsoft Networks, File and Printer Sharing Qos Packet Schedular and the protocals are NWLink NetBios, NWLink IPX/SPX and Interenet Protocal TCP/IP. Everything works fine but the connection is very very slow about 56K modem speeds. The main reason to create a network was to share a broadband connection and to share files but the Win98 PC is not getting a good connection to the Internet. Im also using NetBios over TCP/IP These are the only settings that seem to work for me and is there someting I could do to get 10meg connection between the PCS any help much appreciated. Thanks

You may not be getting the replies you had hoped because slow home network is a tricky issue. It could be anything. People could ask you, "when was the last time you defragged your hard drive". If you admit to a long time, or never, then it could easily be blamed on your PCs. You could also do without NW anything. You don't appear to be using Novell (IPX), and you already have TCP/IP and NetBIOS running. All NW is doing is sitting there eatting up bandwidth. IPX has a bad habit of transmitting what is called SAP messages, basically announcing to your network ever 30 or 60 seconds if there are printers or servers available. Takes up bandwidth unnecessarily. Also, NetBIOS is pretty chatty stuff it's self, but at least offers a "means to the end". You should be getting 100 mbs speed if everything (the NICs in both PCs and the switch) is 100 mbs. Check some of that action out and then repost. You got a lot of troubleshooting to do.
