Slow DSL connection

I just installed my Action Tech Home ADSL modem, it installed fine works.. but when i connect to my ISP i get connections like 1.5Mbps and 8.1Mbps... What is going worng? thanks....

1.5Mbps would be a normal good connection for DSL. But 8.1Mbps?? Either your ISP has a problem or the "program" reporting that connection speed is confused. May be a dial-up software program reporting those unreal numbers.

what the hell is wrong with you??? 1.5Mbps is very bad for an ADSL cnnection, my get a standard of 100.0Mbps.... If 1.5Mbps is so good why is my web browsing so slow and download speeds of 2.33Kbps?? Thnaks...

Actaully, I think you are right JackG. There are 3 main types of speeds for ADSL. 1.5 downstream -768 upstream. 768 downstream - 384 upstream. 384 downstream - 256 upstream.
There other several combination as well. but you get the idea.
I have never heard of a 100.00Mbps, on a ADSL connection. I have heard however a 100Mbps LAN connection. Which would only be the LAN speed not the ADSL speed. I would check browser setting, and I would also check prior dial setting for prior dial-up services. Sometimes its a good idea to remove them all.
