I have connect 2 pc with a switch to share internet connection. On one pc( host pc) I install sygate homenetwork and it work fine with a short (less than 3 meter) cat5e cable to share the connection with both pc. Now I move the client pc out to other room with a straight cable with a distance roughly 30 - 40m and now the connection speed is slow on the client pc and sometime no connection at all. I use adsl & my modem is connect to the switch with a crossover cable. I have try borrow a linksys B router to test the connecion, it still slow but a bit better then using switch but I really have a tight budget & I don't want to waste the switch. Any suggestion?? Thanks !!

Make sure the nic card on the slow pc is set up as auto and not hardcoded to a particular speed/duplex setting .
