Howdie all, you ppls can most likely answer this in your sleep but here goes
I'm looking for the next step in building a simple network to play games across (eg, 2 computers only), we have installed a 10/100 network card in both computers, installed the icp/ip protocols and ipx/spx protocols and have a length of sheilded low impdance crossover cable.
So what do we do now, Box one - win 98 SE, Box 2 win 95
Can anyone point me to an online howto or just write what we need to do?
Thanks all

If these computers are in the same location, just configure static ip addresses on both machines.
ex: 10.10.10.1 and 10.10.10.2
with 255.255.255.0 as a subnet mask.

networking gaming is fun hope you injoy it.
Well your in the right direction. but I dont know what you mean with the second Q though. This is what I think you can stay with your current setup though but I would spend 60 dollers and get a swicth becuase in the future your going to want to expand your network once you find out the posiblities of a network. But to get you going check out http://www.dslreports.com/forum or you can go to http://www.google.com and search for networking. there is lots of help on the net about networking on the net but it can be hard somtimes to. if you know what mirc is you can use that to. if you dont thats ok to.

go to find games on lan if the game come's
up from other pc. pat yorself on the back then play ball. this is abasic. axample of what you would dobut you might want to read about how to start a network game for each game before doing so.
i hope this helped you.
