How to setup home or peer-to-peer network

If all of the computers in a peer-to-peer workgroup don't have a common networking protocol, a common workgroup, and common user names and passwords, the computers may experience a difficulty to communicate with other computers that are running Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows 95, or Microsoft Windows 98. To resolve this issue, configure the computers by ensuring that they have a common networking protocol (TCP/IP), a common workgroup, and common user names and passwords. Also make sure enable File and Printer Sharing is installed.

I mean, can you go into detail? On each computer there is a picture of a hand under the shared documents folder, but when i put a file in that folder on one comp, its not in the folder on anothe comp.

You need to review what networking is about.

When you share a folder and its file contents you are announcing to the world that these are here and to come get them.

You have assumed a link is created between two shared folders on two different machines. It does not work like that.

Review these topics;

File sharing and how to access from a remote pc.
mapping a drive letter to a file share from a remote pc

sounds like what you want to do is map a shared folder.

it's basiclly a shortcut to the folder that has the shared files in it.
