Simple fileserver on home network?

Specs: ubuntu server

I would like to make a very simple file server to
my home
network. I have an old PC, but i dont want to
get rid of it, so
I decided to make a little server from it. I have
a wireless
router. The way I want to use it is:

*computer* ---wifi--- *ROUTER* ---enthernet---*fileserver*

"computer" stands for any computer in my
house, that is
connected to my router. I want to acces my
through my wifi router, with wireless
connection between
my pc and the router, and enthernet
connection between
the router and the server. I want to run ubuntu
server on my
server. Any ideas on how to do this ? I found
on how to make this thing, but that server
works over the
internet. I want to know how to make this thing
work over
my router, not the internet.

I would suggest you start with some basic networking concepts.

Have you ever put hardware together and installed an OS?
