Good day,

I have a question about sharing a wireless network. My folks have a wireless network with a desktop and a laptop in their home. My home is 400 feet directly behind theirs and we'd like to have me able to access their network. I have a wifi adapter in my desktop but have been unable to connect to their network. Their router supposedly has a 1000 ft. range and still no luck.

Any suggestions on how we can achieve this? It's a straight shot back on level ground; however, there are a few small trees in between our homes.

Thanks in advance for your help - I appreciate your input. =)

I never heard of 1,000 ft. wireless range. A cat5 cable only promises 300 feet.

How do you know when a politician is lying? His mouth is moving.

You can try replacing one of the antnnas with a directional one with high gain. Then aim it at your desktop. It "may" work.

Do you even see the network being broadcast?

If your parent's laptop is wireless, test the connection by walking
from their place to yours to find the distance of usable
