Sharing scanner over LAN

Trying to share scanner over lan, scanner is connected to usb port in XP home comp, trying to scan on XP home and Win2000 comps. Enabled printer through add new printer, anything similar for scanners?
I've about the same problem, but my scanner works with win98 proper only... Maybe there is a way to determine the hardware adressing in windows (similar to linux /dev/...) and then share the scanners adress via registry... dunno but try to figure it out... another way is set up the scanner with a linux machine which will definetly work (did it at work)- had you any success by the way? just since you had a week since? :)

The only way you can share a scanner is via USB. The scanner will need to be on a USB HUB, then connect the computers to the hub and load the scanner software on to each machine
