This question has been asked before but the answers didn't help me. I have two computers networked and i can't access the "program files" or "my documents" folders and the boxes are disabled that allow sharing of them. Is there any way to overide this?

Program files are not intended to be shared, but shareing can be overridden. Are you certain that you have successfully completed the Network Sharing Wizard on all PCs. It takes care of the details.

Gotta ask why you want to do this? There could be a valid reason, but I want to make sure.

To answer the first one yes i completed the wizard but it doesn't have options for sharing folders. To the second, its mostly that i want to be able to access the my documents folders to keep them updated on both computers. For the programs i just want to be able to use programs from one computer, on the other one.

The wizard has you to choose to turn sharing either on or off. On will allow you to identify those resources that you want to share - even disks.

I have xp professional and home edition and neither one has options for sharing folders or disks on the network setup wizard. Is the network setup wizard different than the network sharing wizard? If so how do i get to it?

The Network Setup Wizard has a screen titled File and Printer Sharing and the two options are Turn ON or Turn Off file and printer sharing. Please look again.

Have you tried turning off the simple file sharing?
Windows Xplorer - Tools - Folder Options - View - Last option at the bottom on XP.
This allows you the use of many more options for your sharing.
