Comment: I have a problem with sharing on a network. A few days ago I bought a router (Linksys etherfastcable/dsl router) and I had a technician from compusa come down to set it up. He managed to make both computers, which are windows xp home edition to connect to the internet at the same time, but he was unable to make them share files. He would set up a sharing folder and try to get one computer to take an item from antoher computers sharing folder, but the problem was, it kept saying "Unable to find (Pcs name)". He had no idea why it said that, because apparently he said he set it up correctly. He tried many things, and I know this isn't much to go on but i'm hoping someone here can help me, because I really need to get this to work =/ thanks

Reply: (edit)In order to share files and see each other on the network, the host computer must have it's firewall (not Windows Xp's firewall, but like Norton or whatever third party firewall you have) disabled. Once disabled, reboot the client. Should work now. If you just want to share the internet the firewall doesn't need to be disabled.
