Comment:

I am running Win2k with the NTL cable modem connected by USB. I also have a 10/100 network card attached to a hub and two other comps running winxp.

I've read alot of forums but as yet not found an answer as to how i can share the connection, preferebly without buying any more hardware or software.

Please help, i can't afford to buy more stuff yet!!!

Cheers in advance
JB

u will have to buy another nic, but thats not that bad. win 2k can run ICS, an internet connection sharing software that comes with win 2k operating system (more automated with xp) here's a start:

You should be able to simply share the cable modem connection with ICS. Open the property sheet for the internet connection and enable ICS on it.

The NIC in your machine will be automatically setup with the IP address 192.168.0.1 If your other clients are set to get their IP info automatically (DHCP enabled) the will get 192.168.0.2 and .3 etc and should be able to access the internet immediately.

but you can't change the ip address of the cable modem cause then you can't connect to the net. it has to be DHCP enabled.

Cheers again
