Comment: Now before you guyz say dat sharing an internet connection is a very old problem and I should probably luk up on the net to find the solution to my problem..lemme specify dat my situation is a bit different.I hav an internet connection as follows:dere is a adsl2 router from wich a wire connects to the USB of my pc, and another wire from that router connects to the telephone line socket. Now I bought a laptop, and connected to my PC USING THE SPARE PORT IN THE ADSL2 ROUTER (AS I DID NOT HAV A LAN CARD IN THE PC). In this setup,is it possible to share the internet connection? if yes, then how?

Reply: (edit)I believe you are misidentifing the dsl modem as a router. If you had a router you could go into it and setup dhcp to provide additional ip addresses. I don't believe this to be the case here. Since you only get one ip address from your provider via the dsl modem the answer is no you can't "share" your internet connection. Consider the purchase of a wireless router and card for your laptop. Give a person a fish, they eat for a day. Suggest they internet search and they learn a skill for a lifetime.

Reply: (edit)Knowing the model of router you have would help enormously. Some routers with both USB and Ethernet ports don't allow both to be used together, some do. You need to check the routers manual. If it is possible it will tell you how to configure DHCP. If you dont have a manual you can download n of the Internet. Stuart
