I've built an access database for a friends business, split into a front end and back end. i need to put the backend in a shared folder and allow 3 users simultaneous access to the file. Having never used vista myself this is a little tricky and i can't really experiment as they need to maintain the network for work. i can get the file to work on 2 out of 3 systems but not all 3. i went about this by using the public folder on one machine as there is no central server. using the advanced sharing i allowed the everyone group full read write and delete permissions. i'd have thought this would work but can still only get 2 out of 3 online at once.
in addition all computers can access each other on the network except one can't access another and gets a denied error every time i tried. if reverse it i.e. try to access machine b from a there are no problems, similarly all the other users can access the problem machine. i checked the network, all machines are in the same workgroup and the network map shows them all being linked.
if anyone knows the cause of this problem and can priovide a step by step guide to enable all users to access the file simultaneously it would be much appreciated

Here are a few things to try. You may have tried one or more of them already:
- Windows firewall is normally set to allow file and printer sharing but if you have a third-party firewall make sure file and printer sharing is enabled so that each machine can talk to the other(s).
- Don’t disable the Windows firewall if it’s the only one you’re running.
- Have you run your anti-virus software to ensure the PC is clean.
- In Administrative Tools > Services, make sure the Server service has been started and is set to Automatic.
- Can you browse to the shared folders by typing \\computer name\shared folder name into the Address bar of an Explorer window?
- Have you tried ‘unsharing’, then sharing the files again and then rebooting. Have the two little people appeared on the icon of the shared folder(s)?
-Look through this list for sharing problems http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Wi...
