I want to share files only between my laptop and my box (Laptop is cELERON1.0 ghz 256MB RAM and the Box is A p3 1.0GHZ 512mb rAM). I have a cross over cable plugged in and ready to go but I need to know how to set it up so I can actually see each computer.
Any help would be apreciated greatly.=)-Sjean

If there is nothing wrong with your cross-over cable, it can run as you plug the cable in a hub.
On the network properties, you only need to add the same protocol, ex: TCP/IP. And then give them different IP address, but in the same network. Ex: 192.168.0.1 and another is 192.168.0.2, please remember that the subnet mask has to be the same, and make sure that your PCs have different computer names. After this, you can see each computer on your network neighborhood.
For sharing the files, you should add the file sharing services before. And then if it's already exist, you can do right-click the drive or folder and choose sharing.
It's easy right? You can do it, good luck.
Thanks,
Men Fung
