I have two pcs with windows 2000 prfofessional. The PC1 has 2 network cards and PC2 has one card. I have connected the dsl connection to PC1`s one NIC.I have connected the PC2 with PC1 with a crossover cable. I would like to share the DSL connection with PC2 with out purchasing any hub.
your help is highly appreciated.
thank you.

It can be done by installing a second NIC in one PC - to connect to the dsl, the other to connect to the second PC. Then the second/other PC accesses dsl via the first (twin NICs) PC. The second PC is in effct a client to the first (twin NICs) server.
It would probably be better to share dsl via an acccess router; it would provide a proper fire-wall, and also allow for growth. Also only the PC wanted on line at any time need be on (+ the access router).
SMC make a Barricade unit (includes a print server function for one printer); D-link has its 701 (or is 704); Netgear has similar.
http://www.dslreports.com
discusses (in the Network section) how to share dsl in various arrangements; and the link below is from its forum. It deals specifically with one way to do what you want - share dsl on a cross-over system.
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,2974571~root=sympat~mode=flat
And the home site for this forum is a pure dsl site; although much applies equally to cable.

Another similar site:
http://www.practicallynetworked.com
- sharing section also deals with sharing dsl (and cable/dun).
And a search via google.com for:
sharing dsl over a cross-over network
(or some similar search string/term)
may bring up some other useful 'how to's?'
You can probably do it via ICS util (part of '98SE/W2K) as well? This approach would require that one PC is 'Host' (has ICS enabled) to the other 'Client' PC; and the Host again has to be on for the Client to access the dsl.
HTH
