I've only seen this done once, the computer with the scanner attached to it acted as a server on the network. needless to say but both machines were running unix with some very special custom software. I have yet to see a network capable scanner, but hey anything is possiable.
I know his idea sounds dumb at first, only wut if it is on a work place network or school network where it would be nice to not need to log on to another computer to scan, then log off that cpu then log back on your workstation :P justa thot :P i dont have an answer really all i can say is that you may need to find a special scanner? that is how i have seen it set up, with some kinda network scanner? hope that clarifies it :) b.adams
At one time, HP had a scanner that was accessible over the network. This is a wonderful application for schools... imagine having 15 computers in a desktop publishing lab... do you want to buy 15 scanners or one, good networkable scanner?
I am having trouble finding the HP scanner... sorry for the lack of info.
