Is there any way to share a dvd rom to play movies across my network? I tried mapping my dvd rom drive but it would not play the movies on other machines. I can access it as files and folders though.

I don't see why as long as your DVD software supports. Map a drive letter to the root of the DVD drive should work, I think. I, personally, haven't tried it yet.

what you have done is correct however onece the drive has been mapped you must install DVD playing software on other machines, the DVD software you install must ba able to access either network resources or Mapped drives. even then you must have a 100mbps network otherwise it will be really dodgy
