Ok, with BellSouth's DSL service they will give you a free USB or PCI modem OR you have to buy a ethernet modem. Can I network my desktop and laptop efficiently using ICS with the USB modem or do I need to go ahead and get the ethernet modem?

Some one please advise. I want to use either HomePNA or Wireless to network my laptop to the DSL connection.

Thanks

When I originally had to make the decision on what modem to get when ordering DSL they gave me to option of getting USB or what they called internal PCI. I don't have any USB so that was out. I like internal devices anyway. Internal modem instead of external; internal tape drive (way back), I don't really even like external Zip drive except it makes it easier to move around to different machines. I was expecting an internal PCI DSL modem. What they sent was an internal PCI network card to connect to the external DSL modem. I WAS dissapointed but accepted it 'cause Ameritech said they didn't SUPPORT other options. I installed ANOTHER network card (total 2) and did the ICS thing. One card in from the modem and one card out to the rest of my connected computers. NOW I am glad the DSL modem is external 'cause I discovered it was a hassle to have to have the server machine on ALL the time to be doing the ICS thing. I got a router to handle the logon duties and plug in the other machines in the house and any single one of them can be on and be able to access.

I have a dell desktop without ethernet card and would like to order DSL access from Bellsouth ?
Wich is the best solution :
1- choose the USB DSL modem + hub USB (my other USB connectors are full)
2- choose the PCI DSL modem + buy a 10BaseT ethernet NIC (Belkin 10/100 PCi for $15)

I really need your help...
Thanks in advance
God bless you
