Alright, here's the set up. I have DSL internet, two computers (one in a bedroom, and one in the living room). I have a modem, wireless router, and a router/modem combo at my disposal. Here's my question:
At the moment, I have one computer wired to the router/modem combo, and the other computer accessing wirelessly. The wireless is horrible. I wish to hardwire the second computer with a cable, however, since the placement of the computers is so awkard, I would need a really long cable (hence lowering speed) and it would run out in the open, susceptable to stepping on and tripping over. What I want to know is: Can I use my extra modem and router to hardwire the second computer to a different phone jack that is closer? Request if I need to explain this a little better.

Thank you, that does look like an awesome solution, and I'll keep it in mind as a final result. However I still want to know about my original question. Is there anyway to share an internet access over more than one phone jack? I have an extra router and modem at my desposal.

The answer to your original question is no you cannot. The modem has to synchronise with the equipment at the other end of your telephone line. It can only synchronise to one modem at a time.

rogerashley: That is a little more like what I was thinking. Too bad I need special equipment for it. I was hoping I could use my already owned hardware.
Stuart: Thanks for the answer to my question. Seems like I'll either have to suffer wireless, or run wires through my place.
Thanks for all your help. I'm still open to suggestions if anyone else knows any other ways to share an internet (wired) without stringing cables everywhere.

Replace with a new mimo or Pre-N router and card. It has 2 to 8 times the range and twice as fast as 802.11G.
This stuff really works, forget about antennas and boosters.
