Ok, let me first explain.

We have a network here and have a bunch of computers hooked up to one server and all sharing a dsl connection.

We have anoter computer that is off the network that gets all of our outside emails, but it is on a dialup connection.
We dont want any risk of an outside email coming to us that has a virus in it and screwing us up (happend twice), so that is why it's off the network.

Now, is there a way to put that email computer on our dsl modem without it touching the network at all?

Thanks

The simplest solution would be to install some Anti Virus software. Its surprisingly effective when it configured correctly.

e-mail is probably the easiest incoming data stream to police for virus content. Your other PCs are probably at far greater risk if the users are allowed to surf the net.
I'd put a high quality program such as Trend Micro pcillin on the e-mail machine and put it on the network if it were mine. However, you could isolate it by way of a router if you want. This is one of the reasons to have a router - they are controllable.

To fix your problem, first get another server if possible....doesnt have to be anything fancy or big, just use it to put your antivirus on there along with a spam filter. Make sure you get an antivirus that protects pcs, servers, and protects e-mails (trend micro, symantec enterprise ...etc.) Something to that nature. But even before all of that, get yourself a good firewall (software&hardware)....and monitor what sites can come into your network and what sites cant.....that will help you tremendously. And like ClydeB said, if those pcs are on the internet, and are not protected, i'd be more worried about them. But try these things and you should be fine. If you cant purchase another server just place your antivirus on another workstation or server you already have, and you should be fine. Good Luck !!

I'm confused now, what is the "get another server" idea going to do?. A product such as the anti-virus program TremdMicro sells will do an adequate job of protecting the existing mail server PC and a properly configured router will adequately isolate it from the other PCs on the network while allowing it to use the broadband connection. The notion that dialup is any safer that broadband is risky business. Your mail server needs the same safeguards that the other PCs need, even if you don't make any changes.
