I have 2 computers running windows xp home, my laptop and my desktop. I have 2 NICs in my desktop. One NIC is for my cable modem and one is used to connect to my laptop. I am sharing my internet connecting with my laptop at the moment. How do I share a folder with my laptop that I can access from both computers?

well, you have to run network wizard on both computers, and this should create a shared folder.

OK, so now ur gonna want to set up folder sharing... What ever folder it is (my documents) Right Click it and go to the "sharing" tab. From there Click "share folder on this network" and click "users can change this folder" blah blah blah... So when that is done then u have set up folder sharing... Now to see this folder on ur laptop go to start -> run -> then type "\\name of desktop pc." SO AFTER U SET UP THE NETWORK WIZARD AS TOLD ABOVE, u can do all this. say u name ur desktop "HOME" in the network wizard... on ur laptop type in "\\home" without the "". You can set a shortcut on ur laptop to the shared folder. (To set the name of the desktop u have to use the Network set up wizard.)
Have u ever thought of getting a wireless router and notebook card? Its better than using an ethernet cable from ur desktop to ur laptop... I hope i explained it well, if u have any further questions than feel free to ask. ~HaQz
