hello I have an enclosed network of 10 PC and a server. All I want to do is allow sharing of files on the PCS so students could access the files on different PCs through N/W neighbourhood. Unfortunately this is not possible, although I can ping the different PCs. I was wondering if I can use dos commands to acess the different PCs? Can any body help.
This certainly is possible. Make sure you have "I want to share my folders" checked in the properties section of your NIC. Also make sure the workgroup name is the same for all PC's. The connecting students machines need to be on the same subnet for this to work. Also it may take up to 15 min. for the Network Neighborhood to populate.
