Hi I want to share my DSL internet connection with 2 other PCs. I will buy a router and CAT5 cable. I want to know that after replacing router with (DSL) modem, do I have to perform any configuration? or just plugging the router and wires is enough to share internet? Thanks

First you need to understand what a router is, it is not modem, something that you will still need. You will also need a switch which these days is usuaaly built into the router.
If you but a router with a built in modem you can discard your existing modem. If you buy a router without a modem you will still need your existing modem.
Until we know which router you are buying any answer would be guess work as there are different methods. Besides the manual that will come with the router will give you all the information you need.

You still need the modem to connect to router, and you need to configure the router as well. Take a look on this Ethernet home network setup tutorial to help you more, not difficult to set it up.

If you use Verizon, you don't need a router. Just get a Westell 327W Versalink modem off of eBay, and you'll be all set.

I recommened the HotBrick 401VPNX2, it's compatible with DSL, Cable and T1 Connections. I use mine with AT&T DSL and it works great. Very easy to set up and HotBrick Support is awesome.
