I have 2 desktops(XP pro) and one laptop (xp home, has wireless)
One of the desktop has a dialup connection
I have a Canyon CN-WF514 wireless router.
The two desktops connect via Ethernet to the router , the laptop Wirelessly.
When all are set to obtain a ip address automatically they can see each other fine and can share folders. when I Run ICS to share the desktops dialup connection it sets the ip address to 192.168.01 and then the other machines cant it see it .
The routers address is 192.168.2.1 , should i change this . should i have DHCP enabled or disabled on the router.Help I spent 3 night now messing around . at one stage I had it working then on a reboot it didn't

ICS sets up a basic DHCP Server and by default gives itself 192.168.0.1 / 255.255.255.000, therfore you need to turn off DHCP on the router.
You could also give each PC/Laptop a Static IP in the 192.168.0.x range / Subnet 255.255.255.000.

thanks for the fast reply ,I did try this. the machines could see each other, but could not use the dialup connection. any ideas. maybe i did something wrong and will try again tonight

You can do 1 of 2 things here: The 1st thing would be to set Internet Explorer to use a proxy. So in each computer you want the internet to be shared on, go to Internet Explorer>Tools>Internet Options>Connections>LAN Settings, then check Use a proxy. Enter 192.168.0.1 in the Address box, then enter 6588 in the port box. Click OK, then Apply, and OK again.
The 2nd way would be to get 1 more ethernet card, and install it into the computer w/ the dial up. After the drivers are installed, this would create another Network Connection under Network Connections. Then you could set ICS to be shared through that connection. Then plug a CAT5 cable from that extra card to the WAN port on the router. Then, you wouldn't need to set IE to use proxy servers. I would use the 2nd option because some applications you may use require a direct connection to the net, and do not support a proxy server (the 1st option).
Hope this helps. If you have any questions, post back.
